Monster Island, the Asylum's 2019 mockbuster, was released around the same time as Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The film is about a mysterious island where a monstrous creature lives, and the creature is, in a sense, the island itself.


To keep costs down, the film only follows a handful of human characters and keeps its A-listers on one set so they can shoot all their sequences over lunch. The Asylum may not do so badly considering that it's a kaiju-themed film.
